Last Week, KP The Great spent his Memorial Day Weekend as the first-ever DJ to rock the Atlanta Jazz Festival. Held at Piedmont Park, one of Atlanta’s most popular sites, thousands of music lovers and festival goers came together for a weekend of smooth Jazz and a dose of culture. KP The Great kicked off the Festival on Friday, with his explosive DJ set alongside Fort Knox as the emcee. Blending the sounds of today’s most inspiring artists like Kendrick Lamar, with classic songs from legendary artists like The Beatles, KP had the crowd on their feet. Staying true to the Jazz fans in the crowd, KP brought out Grammy Award winning trumpet player Maurice “Mo Betta” Brown as a special surprise. Mo Betta free-styled his instrument over hits like “Killing Me Softly” by The Fugees, and “Why Don’t We Fall in Love” by Amerie. KP The Great had one more trick up his sleeve, by bringing out fellow Dungeon Family member and long time friend Sleepy Brown to perform his hit single “I Can’t Wait”. The Atlanta Jazz Fest was the most stressful show that we have ever had to prepare for, because we don’t consider our show, a jazz show… and we wanted people to have a great time and leave musically satisfied. But once you get down to it, great music moves people, so Jazz Fest quickly became one of my favorite shows, and I can now check DJ’ing in a park off my bucket list”, KP The Great states.
